Alternate Advancement Points - Tinkering

Tinkering Alternate Advancement (AA) points are a little different from other Tradeskill AAs.

First, they are obviously only available to gnomes, since only gnomes can tinker.

Second, you'll notice there is nothing immediately available in your Alternate Advancement window that indicates there even are Tinkering AAs you can buy! In order to make the AA line visible, you must complete a very simple quest which you can start once you reach level 59 and you should have at least 18 AA points banked before completing this quest.

In addition to the Tinkering AAs, there is one other line that can be beneficial for tinkerers.

  • Salvage

Tinkering Mastery

As stated above, you must do the quest with Rylin Coil in Ak'Anon in order to make the AA line visible in your Alternate Advancement Window on the general tab. Ranks 1 - 3 will reduce failure rates and Ranks 4 - 13 will allow you to raise your skill above 300.

It will cost 443 AAs to buy all ranks of Tinkering Mastery.

4 60 20 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 305
5 65 25 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 310
6 70 30 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 315
7 75 35 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 320
8 80 40 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 325
9 85 45 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 330
10 90 50 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 335
11 95 55 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 340
12 100 60 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 345
13 105 65 Allows you to raise your skill by 5 points to 350

Salvage

This passive Alternate Ability gives you the chance to automatically recover an item that would otherwise be lost on a failed tradeskill combine. It is possible to "salvage" multiple items from each failed combine.

It will cost 30 AAs to buy all ranks of Salvage.
